Michigan Home Inspectors require no state licensing to be a inspector. This means that anyone can hang a sign and become a home inspector. But there are three different types of certifications you can aquire as a home inspector in Michigan. Thes are not required but is advised if a person wants to become a home inspector and work in this state.

  • ASHI – American Society of Home Inspectors.
  • NACHI- National Accossiation of certified home inspectors.
  • NAHI – National Assocciation of home inspectors.

Although in Michigan as stated above it is not required to be licensed by the state of Michigan, as a home owner it is advised to look for a home inspector that belongs to at least one of these organizations. This shows that the company is established within his industry and takes it serious.

When looking for a home inspector do check to see if he carries Errors and Ommisions insurance. This type of insurance covers the company and you in the event that something is missed when the inspection takes place. No one is perfect and things can be missed or simply not noticed for one reason or another.
